What Is Your Personal Injury Attorney Doing for You?
The other day one of the partners here at Willis, Willis & Rizzi received a call from a woman who was very upset. She had another law firm in town handling her personal injury case, but she has never been able to speak to her attorney! She had been dealing with receptionists and other office personnel, but she had questions that they couldn’t answer, and she could never get her attorney on the phone.

If you have a big celebration in life like a birthday or anniversary, you probably want to go out to a nice restaurant to celebrate. There are a lot of nice restaurants in town, and they are expensive, but they are upscale and nice. You are probably not going to go to McDonalds! Yet, many people are taking their personal injury cases to McDonald’s equivalent of law firms. And for these types of law firms, it is all about numbers. Mass volume. Just like McDonald’s advertises that they have served billions and billions, these types of law firms take in a lot of cases every day and they shove a lot of cases out the door every day.
It’s a numbers game for them. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.
At Willis, Willis & Rizzi we made the decision years ago to not be in the “fast food” legal market, we wanted to be in the high-end legal market. The difference though, and the funny secret in all of this is – if you go to a high-end restaurant, you will have a large bill at the end of the evening; a lot more than if you went to McDonald’s. But in the legal world, we are all charging the same fee percentage. So, it isn’t going to cost you any more money to go to a law firm that will actually take care of you and talk to you and have a personal relationship with you, as opposed to a law firm for whom you are just a number.
So, what is your lawyer doing for you? There are some good attorneys at these fast-food law firms, but they are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of cases they have to deal with daily. There are driving forces in these types of firms that are pushing for numbers. If they take in 20 cases today, the attorneys are pressured to settle 20 cases that day to keep the machine rolling. They don’t care how they do it, just get the cases done.

And the first priority is not legal stuff, it’s medical stuff. We strive to help get our clients healthy, or as back to normal as possible before the injury occurred.
